Dover Bargaining Report
CWA met in formal session with AT&T in discussions for the Dover NPIC on Wednesday, Thursday, and this morning. We made some progress, but the main issue remains affordable health care for the Dover workers.
The sessions were quite heated at times, and the difficulty of the bargaining is underscored by the presence of Vice President Maly, who is now at the table in hopes that we can move the Company to a fair agreement on health care the workers can actually afford to use. We have made progress on some issues, so the news is not all bad.
"We continue to work with all of CWA, including President Cohen, to get an agreement for the Dover workers," said Local 1298 President and bargaining team member Bill Henderson. "We continue to remind AT&T that they can do the right thing for these workers and their families rather than taking the corporate low road." Henderson went on to say, "President Cohen is aware of all that is happening at the table, and we will meet with him again today if possible to give him another update. We have kept District 1 Vice President Chris Shelton in the loop as well. Everyone is extremely concerned about these discussions."
We will continue to press ahead, and we will keep you posted as we make progress.
