CWA Members Vote Cingular Wireless Authorization
Washington, D.C. -- Members of the Communications Workers of America at Cingular Wireless voted overwhelmingly, by an 88 percent yes vote, to give CWA leaders authorization to call legal work actions, including a possible strike, if workers are unable to gain a fair contract.
Contract negotiations currently are underway in Atlanta on behalf of 5,300 CWA-represented workers at Cingular Wireless covered by the "Orange Contract." The contract continues to be extended on a day-to-day basis.
Key issues for Cingular workers are employment security, especially with the integration of AT&T Wireless, a fair wage increase and issues concerning technical, call center, network and retail sales work.
