CWA Legislative-Political Conference Opens Sunday March 6 on Capitol Hill

More than 600 members of the Communications Workers of America will be in Washington, D.C., beginning Sunday, March 6 for CWA's 2005 legislative-political conference. All general sessions will be held at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, in the Regency Ballroom.

The Sunday, March 6, general session begins at noon. Remarks by CWA President Morton Bahr are scheduled for about 1 p.m.; Secretary-Treasurer Barbara Easterling will open the session at noon, followed by Executive Vice President Larry Cohen. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) will be the keynote speaker at about 12:30 p.m.

General sessions on Monday, March 7, and Tuesday, March 8, will begin at 8:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., respectively, with presentations by Senators and House Members, among others. Afternoons will be spent meeting with congressional representatives and staff, and in issues workshops, covering budget and taxes, telecommunications policy, social security, health care and other topics.
