CWA Featured on The West Wing

Did you catch the April 21 episode of the West Wing, NBC's Emmy-winning prime time television show about the White House, Washington, D.C., and fictional President Jed Bartlett?

This episode featured our union, the Communications Workers of America and its president, in meetings at the White House and fighting to keep more than 17,000 tech jobs from going overseas.

The real CWA's president, Morton Bahr, said the episode spotlighted our union's fight to protect good American jobs and against the offshoring of high tech and other work that that has resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas.

That same week, the real CWA was bargaining with SBC to gain access for our members to tech jobs now sent overseas, had pressed shareholders at Sprint Corp. to evaluate the impact of offshoring on the company's brand name and reputation, and announced to the media a new tool to monitor jobs shifted offshore, on www.techsunite.org.

Best line from the show: If there's one thing the Communications Workers know how to do, it's communicate.

This depiction of our union does us all proud.
