CWA, Cincinnati Bell Reach New Pact
Negotiators have reached a tentative agreement for CWA members at Cincinnati Bell that improves health care coverage beyond an earlier proposal that was voted down. The new agreement came at the July 9 strike deadline.
CWA Vice President Jeff Rechenbach said the new pact addresses members’ concerns about health care coverage, one of the most critical issues in the negotiations.
More than 2,000 members of CWA Locals 4400 and 4401 will vote by mail on the proposed agreement. Ballots will be counted July 25.
The new agreement provides for two health care options for workers, with the in-network plan requiring no employee contributions for individual or family coverage and no deductible. The agreement also calls for a 12.6 percent wage hike over the contract term, raises pension credits by 10 percent, includes a $500 signing bonus and addresses job security and subcontracting issues, among other gains.
