CWA 1998 Telecom Bargaining Web Site Instructions
CWA’s Telecom Bargaining Web Site was established to provide members with easy access to bargaining information about major negotiations this year.
Finding and using the site is not difficult. However, you will want to read the following directions carefully and completely, before attempting to login.
What You Will Need:
Mailing Label from this issue of CWA News; Internet Browser (AOL, CompuServe, Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc. versions 3 and higher);
Follow these directions:
Login to the CWA Home page. The Internet address is http://ga.cwa-union.org. (You will want to bookmark this page so you do not have to type in the address each time.) Click on the link telecom98.org.
The first page you see is for the general public. Now, click on the button that says “Members Login.”
The next page is the login page where you will enter an ID code and password. Your ID code is the first eleven numbers on the second line of your CWA News mailing label, following the # sign (do NOT enter the # sign — only the 11 numbers that follow). For the password, enter the word cardcheck and click on the button “login.”
The password is one word — there are no spaces or characters between card and check. It is not case sensitive, so either cardcheck or CARDCHECK will work.
You are now at the members’ only site. You are encouraged to change your CWA User ID and password the first time you enter. Click on the link in the sentence, “Click here if you would like to change your login password.” You will need to enter your changes twice. Click the submit button, but be sure to keep a record of the changes you make. You will receive a confirmation message that your changes were accepted. If you get an error message, check to be sure you entered your ID and password two times.
To get back to the Telecom site, click on your back button until you return to the members only page.
To get a list of the latest reports on negotiations with your employer, click on the “View Latest Information” button. Bargaining with some employers will not begin until this summer or later.
The site also has links to Mobilization updates, background papers and presentations on CWA bargaining issues, CWA news releases, and more. If your local union or your district has a Web site, there will be a link from this site as well.
Technical Problems
The following contacts are available if you encounter problems with the members only site. Be sure to include the nature of your problem, your full name, the ID you are using, and an e-mail address. If we do not have your correct e-mail address, we will be unable to contact you.
