Contract Reached at Cingular Wireless
CWA reached a tentative agreement with Cingular Wireless covering 5,300 workers under the "Orange Contract" in Districts 1, 2, 4, 7, 9 and 13.
The settlement provides for a wage increase of 11 percent for Cingular workers over the four-year contract term. It also improves base compensation for retail sales members by more than 25 percent.
Among other improvements, the agreement strengthens employment security, a big issue in the wake of the merger with AT&T Wireless. It also addresses call center and retail matters such as quota relief and job duties, among other gains.
The agreement is subject to membership ratification and locals will be providing a detailed bargaining report and information on contract explanation meetings and the ratification schedule to members shortly.
