Cohen: We Voted For Growth

Faced with a looming fiscal catastrophe, Americans must make the same choice they did on Election Day: Growth over austerity.

“We’re going to have to stand up across America and say, ‘No you’re not going to cut our Social Security.’ People who make over $250,000 a year can pay a little bit more, not a lot,” said CWA President Larry Cohen on The Ed Schultz Show this afternoon. “We can look after small business. That argument that Republicans raise is just to be divisive. We voted for growth, and we’re going to fight for growth.”

Cohen said that we often forget that Medicare and Medicaid are tied to growth. “We cut consumption, there will be no growth in this economy,” he said.
