Board Waives Dues for Members on Military Leave
CWA’s Executive Board acted to waive collection of union dues for CWA members who may be called for military service in conjunction with the war on terrorism.
The waiver applies to employer compensation to supplement military pay as provided in many CWA contracts for members called to active duty.
In its resolution, the board noted: “Most of our major employers have agreed to improved military leave provisions concerning compensation, health care, life insurance, vacation and pension benefits as well as reemployment rights and the like. We need to get agreements with those employers who have not taken action.”
The waiver of dues applies until the member is returned to the job.
