Best Websites: Timely, Clean and Easy to Navigate

CWA Webmaster Sara Mayman explains why she's chosen the following sites as some of the union's best local efforts online:

  • Local 1106 (www.cwalocal1106.org) in New York City has a site with a "nice uncluttered look," Mayman says. "There aren't too many navigational items listed, so finding what you are looking for is very straightforward."
  • Denver's TNG-CWA Local 37074 (www.denvernewspaperguild.org) has an "easy-to-navigate site with lots of current information right on the front page," she says. "The information is presented in such a way that it doesn't seem overwhelming."
  • CWA Local 6012 (www.cwa6012.org) in Tulsa, Okla., also does a good job of keeping its front page updated and "offers many resources, such as a form to find and contact representatives and a comprehensive list of member resources."
  • Utah Local 7704 (www.cwa7704.org) is a "well-designed site that provides a lot of information about the local, CWA and unions in general on the front page, as well as updated news," Mayman says.
  • The newly designed site for the California Organization of Police and Sheriffs, COPS-CWA (www.cops.cc) "uses images and video well and features a blog to keep members informed," Mayman says. "The site also promises podcasts to be coming soon."
  • The staff union at the University of Virginia, SUUVA-CWA (www.suuva.org) has a site with a "clean look and frequently updated news articles on the front page as well as a blog where guests are allowed to post comments."
