Avaya Bargaining Report #1

Today, May 5th at 10:00 a.m., was the official opening of the CWA-Avaya Bargaining.  The CWA Bargaining Committee Chair is Bill Bates.  The committee members are:  Ruth Marriott; Art Frindt; Kevin Kimber; Richie Meringolo; and Phil Pennington.

We are bargaining jointly with the IBEW Committee.  Their Bargaining Chair is Dennis Slaman.  The committee members are:  John Rowley and Georgeanne Scarpelli.

The Company's opening remarks referred to the poor economic times.  The Union responded, "We are here to bargain a fair and equitable contract."  We further discussed the bargaining format.

The next scheduled bargaining session will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6th.  We thank all our members for their mobilization actions on our opening day of bargaining.
