AT&T Members Vote National Strike Authorization
As the CWA News went to press, results of a national strike authorization vote among CWA members at AT&T were announced, with members authorizing possible strike action against the company by a better than 80 percent margin.
This vote gives CWA leaders the authority to take strike action in the event that serious unfair labor practices committed by AT&T justify and require such action. Members are fighting AT&T's refusal to abide by contract provisions negotiated and agreed to by the company last year.
AT&T local union officers will hold a national conference this month in Orlando, Fla., to discuss the pattern of AT&T's violation of the contract's neutrality and consent election provisions, as well as other issues at AT&T.
