AT&T "Legacy T" Bargaining Report #19

The Company showed up at the table today with a whole pile of proposals but all they added up to was this:

On Articles 32, 33, 34, 38 and 41 -

·  They reinserted the Sunday Differential and went back to the original language on how the off-tour differential is computed.  HOWEVER, they left their double time only for overtime over 10 Hours (instead of 8).

·  They increased their 0n-Call pay but it is still significantly less than it is now.

·  In Article 41 they continue to push for on-call to be REQUIRED.

·  They rejected our proposal to add titles to those covered under Article 41 language and expand who is entitled to Certification Program payments.  CEO Randall Stephenson publicly attacked American workers saying we weren't as skilled as workers in other countries; but when we presented a proposal to address that, they rejected it.

When the Company just offers to give us back what they originally planned to take away, THAT IS NOT PROGRESS.  It's just stalling.  This is not serious bargaining.

The Union presented a proposal on wages to counter the Company's insulting wage proposal.  We also re-presented our improved Article 30 Contracting Out language that the Company had rejected.  We presented new language in an attempt to fix the problem with the company misusing "term employees" when they should be hiring regular employees.  The Company had tried to restrict the duties of our Health Care Coordinator.  We countered, replacing the language they took out and adding some new language.  We presented new and revised proposals on Recognition, Arbitration, Excused Work Days, City Allowances and some of the wage tables.

The Company has not responded to our last rejection of their Medical proposal.  We will not allow the Company to shift the costs of either active or retiree health benefits onto our backs.  All this will be discussed more on tomorrow's all-Local conference call.  Meanwhile – keep mobilizing; keep fighting; keep preparing for Saturday night.
