AT&T "Legacy T" Bargaining Report #08
We can’t say today that the Company doesn’t keep its promises. Just as they promised yesterday, today they proposed the same ridiculous retrogressions they put out yesterday, but this time for Articles 32, 33, 37, and 41:
o Eliminate double time after eight hours! No double time until you work 12 hours in a day.
o Night differential ONLY for the hours worked outside the day-tour hours (instead of for the whole tour).
o Eliminate Sunday Premium pay!
o Make on-call (carrying a beeper) REQUIRED instead of "requested" AND with NO COMPENSATION so they can force you to carry a beeper and be available and you will get nothing for it.
They also threw in another one that is at least as bad as those. They want to change Article 20 (Absence) so you have to work EIGHT (8) years before you get paid for your first day of illness. Under three years, you get no pay for personal illness at all until you go on disability.
The Union passed proposals concerning Holidays and Excused Work Days, to provide our members more flexibility in the use of EW days and floaters.
Today was the first day we began to meet with the Company in sub-committees on several key issues.
Remember, Thursday is our National Health Care Action Day. Every Local should have activities planned to show the Company how pissed off we are at their Health Care/Cost Shifting proposals. If they don't, feel free to find your own way to show the Company how much you hate their plans.
