APWU Staffers Join CWA
Twenty-nine professional staff at American Postal Workers Union headquarters in Washington, D.C., have become CWA members through voluntary card-check recognition, joining the Newspaper Guild-CWA Local 35.
“One hundred percent signed cards,” said Dick Ramsey, administrative officer for the Baltimore-Washington local. “It’s the first time in my career that’s happened.”
In addition to the APWU, Local 35 represents 85 national staff of the United Food and Commercial Workers, 14 of the Electronic Workers and eight of Service Employees Local 500. CWA Local 2385 represents 59 Government Employees staff nationwide.
