Alliance Training Program Expands to Include CWA/NETT's On-Line, High Tech Training

Washington, D.C. -- The Alliance for Employee Growth and Development, a joint training program created by the Communications Workers of America and major telecom employers, is expanding its training and education program by giving participants the opportunity to enroll in CWA/NETT programs.

The Alliance is the first non-profit, jointly owned education corporation in the telecom industry, negotiated by CWA and AT&T in 1986. Its original mission was to provide educational opportunities and training for AT&T workers. Since those early days, the program has taken off and has been a lifeline to workers dealing with the rapid technological change in the telecom industry and uncertainty of employment.

Over its two decades, the Alliance has been recognized as a valuable partner not only in helping employed workers obtain new skills and advance in their chosen fields, but in providing critical skill training for dislocated workers, said CWA President Larry Cohen. Workers at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Avaya Inc. and other employers are eligible to participate in Alliance programs. Visit www.employeegrowth.com/cwanett for more information.

Now, by making CWA/NETT training available, the Alliance is opening up new opportunities that will enable participants to take advantage of CWA/NETT's online skill certification programs and other technical courses, and will streamline the enrollment process for workers interested in high tech training, said Kevin Celata, CWA/NETT administrator.

For other CWA members and military personnel, CWA/NETT provides state-of-the-art training, at an affordable cost, for an associate degree program or in key industry certifications. Its offerings include Voice over Internet Protocol, a new TV Internet Protocol, cabling, computer upgrade and repair, plus several Cisco certified programs, including Net+, network administrator, network technician, and more. The degree program is administered with Stanly Community College in North Carolina. For more information on CWA/NETT, go to www.cwanett.org.
