Alcatel-Lucent Installation

The Bargaining Committee met today and both sides exchanged proposals. The CWA passed a proposal addressing the problems some of our Installers are having who, for their periodic trip home, spend too much of their weekend traveling.  We also discussed the issue of Union Reps who are only given 15 minutes of travel time when they have to meet with management on issues.

The company passed many proposals eliminating letters in the agreement (many of which obsolete).  They are also looking to make the memorandum offering SVTP a permanent part of the contract instead of having to come to the Union and negotiate it each time they offer it.  That money comes from our pension fund and we will not just hand over the keys to the pension fund without some substantial protections for our members.
