Alcatel-Lucent Installation

Bargaining this weekend focused mainly on how to protect our members against Alcatel-Lucent’s Shi(f)t Plans.  The company has made no secret of its plans to reduce the Installation workforce, as part of its overall plan to reduce headcount worldwide by 10,000. While we cannot stop their plans, the Union proposals are designed to keep as many as possible, protect seniority, give our Installers as many choices as possible, and make sure that if someone transfers or leaves, they get as much money as possible.

The last Bargaining report resulted in a lot of responses from the Locals.  Your Bargaining Team reported your anger over the 7-day coverage proposal to the company.  However, this is the last week before the extended expiration date.  It is crucial you in the field let your Management know how you feel through your actions and your participation in mobilization activities.  The Company bargainers must hear about that pressure from every one of their Managers.
