AFL-CIO and UFCW Sue Bush

The AFL-CIO along with the UFCW, on January 3, 2007, have filed a joint lawsuit sueing the US Department of Labor and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for not issuing its rule on payment for Personnal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Peg Seminario, AFL-CIO, Director of Occupational Safety and Health, states: "We filed the lawsuit since its been 8 years since DOL said they would act on this matter, but have failed to do so. This is something we've worked together with the UFCW on for many years, going back to the original rulemaking on PPE in 1994. We've continued to work together on the issue even after the split and believe that filing the lawsuit jointly sends a strong message to DOL that labor is united in wanting action on this issue."
