2009 Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Awards

In the last 19 years, CWA members have been extremely generous and raised more than $7 million on behalf of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, CWA’s Charity of Choice. This money has been used to advance the Foundation’s research, training and advocacy programs around the world.

During 2009, 470 locals participated in our Charity of Choice program, contributing a grand total of $324,352, an increase of 120 locals and almost $75,000 over 2008. Many locals hold special fundraisers for the Foundation so that they do not have to rely on already stretched treasury funds.

The Hope Award is presented to the Locals that bring in the highest percentage of their fundraising quota of $1 per member each year.

Hope Award winners for 2009 were:

• Locals with less than 100 Members: Local 14330, 2500% of their quota.
• Locals with 100-500 Members: Local 7026, 1506% of their quota.
• Locals with more than 500 members: Local 7803, 477% of their quota.

The following locals exceeded their quota of $1 per member per year by at least 200 percent.
