Death On The Job: AFL-CIO 2008 Report

Just released, the 17th edition of the AFL-CIO national and state-by-state profiles on worker safety and health in the United States reveals that in 2006, 5,840 workers died from workplace injuries, compared with 5,734 in 2005. The figures show a continued and significant increase in fatalities among Latino and foreign-born workers.

On April 28, 2009, CWA and the U.S. labor movement will once again celebrate and observe Workers' Memorial Day to remember those who have become ill, injured, or killed on the job, as well as to renew our fight for strong safety and health protections.
2009 CWA Occupational Safety and Health Conference Re-Scheduled

The Union?s National Occupational Safety and Health Conference originally set for September 12-14 has been re-scheduled to occur October 2-5, 2009 at the Holiday Inn on-the-Bay, San Diego, California. The Conference agenda and registration materials will be sent to all CWA Local presidents in the coming weeks.
