Expanding CWA's base in wireless telephony and higher education, and grabbing a piece of AT&T's directory assistance service, local organizers have been busy signing up nearly 1,000 new members and laying the ground work for several hundred more.

While NABET-CWA mobilizers continue to chase Mickey Mouse from one end of the country to the other, NABET-CWA negotiators continue to press Disney/ ABC managers for a fair and decent contract to replace one that expired more than a year ago.

James G. Adams, whose career began as an "on air" personality 45 years ago and who retired as a NABET-CWA staff representative only 16 months ago, died of a heart ailment on May 4 at his home in Germantown, Md. He was 63.
