Sharan Burrow, leader of the world?s largest union organization, the International Trade Union Confederation, will be in Washington, D.C., and Charleston, S.C., next week, to push forward on the global campaign for justice for T-Mobile USA workers.

"Our democracy is corrupted," wrote CWA President Larry Cohen in the latest issue of the Poverty & Race Research Action Council?s newsletter. "Money is not speech. Corporations are not people. Our path to change must rely on massive movement-building, uniting economic justice and democracy."

Today, 23 Brooklyn Cablevision workers were illegally fired after attempting to discuss the lack of good-faith bargaining by the company with their management and expressing support for their bargaining committee ? protected activities by federal law. The Communications Workers of America, which the workers voted to join a year ago, condemned the firings as an illegal and outrageous attack on the company?s hard-working employees. Last week, CWA had filed unfair labor practice charges alleging bad-faith bargaining by Cablevision-Optimum.

IUE-CWA organized in Kansas City and CWA Local 6360 continues to represent in Kansas City.

American Airlines agents and CWA are continuing their efforts to get a voice on the job and in the future, following a narrow loss in the representation election among 7,800 agents.
