Act Now to Help Pass Public Safety Bargaining Bill

CWAers nationwide are working hard to push the U.S. Senate to act on a measure giving public safety officers collective bargaining rights. Hundreds of phone calls and handwritten letters have been sent to Senators, pressing for a vote on the bill.
U.S. Department of Labor News Release: Labor Secretary Solis Renews National Charter

WASHINGTON ? Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis today renewed the charter of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health. The charter will expire in two years.
UCLA-Cal/OSHA Settlement Agreement

On September 30, 2010,representatives of Cal/OSH, UCLA, and UPTE-CWA Local 9119 signed a settlement agreement re. Cal/OSHA identified laboratory safety violations. The settlement includes an aggressive abatement program and timeline that UCLA must meet. In addition, the settlement indicates UPTE must be included in this process and fines UCLA a total of $36,930 (following adjustments after modifications to the original citations).
