The most important provisions of President Obama's health care reform bill (the Affordable Care Act) are set to go into effect January 1, 2014. CWA bargainers from around the country have been sending us excellent questions about health reform and other health care matters. We will be posting our answers to these questions here on the CWA Health Care web page as they come up. This question is about how employers will be determine the penalties they'll owe if under the new health care law.

UMWA members who work at Patriot Coal operations in West Virginia and Kentucky ratified a settlement with the company that significantly improves the terms and conditions of employment ordered by a federal bankruptcy judge last May.

The United Mine Workers reached a tentative settlement with bankrupt Patriot Coal on new terms and conditions of employment covering 1,800 active or laid off miners in West Virginia and Kentucky.
