Union Membership Lightens Load for Skycaps

More than 50 million Americans are likely to be without health insurance within three years without a major overhaul of the nation's costly and inequitable health care system, according to a new report by a unique coalition of business, labor, consumers and politicians.

Responding to last December's layoff of 2,400 members at Verizon, CWA District 1 is continuing to press for contract arbitration, while mobilizing, lobbying and launching a three-pronged initiative to help laid-off workers with high-tech training and new, union jobs.

Two IUE-CWA employers set an example for other companies on Workers Memorial Day, joining the union in its remembrances and commitment to job safety.
