Statement from Claude Cummings, Jr. on the Christchurch Mosque Murders

I know the anguish and utter sorrow I feel over the suffering of the Muslim community in Christchurch and around the world is shared by my brothers and sisters in CWA other Labor Unions, and by all thinking, caring humans. The hateful murders at places of worship are far more than tragedy. They are an outrageous expression of white supremacist hate that is not just tolerated but enabled and amplified by immoral, badly broken leadership. Our condolences to the families that lost loved ones in this horrific tragedy. The hate that drove this despicable crime won’t subside on its own. Leaders who are silent in the face of bigotry, or worse, encourage it, must change their behavior - or we must use the power of the ballot to change our leadership.
