NOKIA BARGAINING REPORT #48
The Company and Union bargaining teams met today. In an “effort to move things along” the Company Chair passed a “comprehensive proposal” that includes virtually the same Effects Agreement that they have passed four other times. Aside from a few minor changes to the Effects Agreement, which includes the ability to access Nokia’s Career Transition Program, the only real difference is the elimination of the entire bargaining unit on or before December 31, 2019. Installers would be given the opportunity to leave early with the Effects Agreement if they choose.
The comprehensive proposal included a 2% pension band increase; however, there would be no wage increase. Currently 31 states still have Subcontractors performing Installation work.
We do not have any bargaining meetings scheduled until February 21, 2019 as the Union reviews this “comprehensive proposal”.
Please continue to mobilize. It is extremely important that the CEO of Nokia, Nokia’s Bargaining Chair, Nokia’s customers and your Legislators know that eliminating good Union jobs and putting Retiree’s benefits at risk is BAD BUSINESS. Also check out and join Nokia’s Yammer Field Forces conversation.
Remember, if you encounter quality issues with 3P Contractors or you are sent to clean up their mess, please send the information to the Bargaining Team: cwalocal1090@yahoo.com.
