Minnesota CWAers Celebrate Win on Clean Buses

Minnesota CWAers, along with a coalition of environmental and social justice groups, celebrated a big victory on Monday when the Metropolitan Council announced a new plan to add electric buses to the Metro Transit bus fleet, with the goal of no longer purchasing diesel buses by 2022. CWA members and allies have been putting pressure on the Met Council to take action to move towards clean buses.

CWA Local 7304 President Matt LeLou and Vice President Renee Brand testified on Monday at the Met Council and Metro Transit meeting about their experiences building clean energy, electric buses at New Flyer in Minnesota, and how adding electric buses will help the environment and create good union jobs.
