Workers' Memorial Day: National Labor College

Please join us at the National Labor College as we commemorate Workers Memorial Day on April 28.  As you will see on the attached flyer, the program begins with a 1 p.m. seminar on "Winning Benefits and Compensation for Those Whose Health Was Damaged in Rescue and Cleanup at the World Trade Center."  The panel will have activists and victims from the tragedy.  At 2:30 we will begin a candlelight ceremony remembering those who have died from workplace injury and illness.

The ceremony will end with groundbreaking for a permanent workers memorial to be build prominently on the college campus.

If there is a short tribute to members of your union that you would like to share (no more than 30 seconds to a minute), please let us
know and we will put you on the program.  Your tribute could remember specific workers fallen this year or be a more general statement about the serious hazards in your industry or it could be a poem or other tribute of your choice.

Please come and please bring your colleagues and friends with you for this important remembrance and event.  A reception will follow at 3:30.
Please distribute the Workers' Memorial Day flyer widely.

If you're interested in the purchase of a brick or other memorial
marker, please go to http://www.nlc.edu/html/workers_memorial.html.
