Union Calls for Boycott of "Music Man" Tour

There’s labor trouble in River City. The theatrical production of “The Music Man,” scheduled to tour 28 cities between this December and September of 2002, is being performed by non-union actors, and the actors’ union is asking the public to boycott the show.

Actors Equity points out that there are plenty of other productions touring the country that are completely union, including the popular “Beauty and the Beast,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Fosse,” “The Full Monty,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Les Miserables,” “Lion King,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “South Pacific,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “Vagina Monologues,” “Sunshine Boys,” and “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”

For schedules and more information, go to the union’s web site: www.ActorsEquity.org.
