NOKIA to purchase Alcatel Lucent in 2016 

As you have probably heard, Nokia has agreed to buy Alcatel-Lucent for 16.6 BILLION  DOLLARS. 

The CWA has requested more information from the Company about the impact of the sale on our members and whether this means a slowdown in the depopulation of bases.  They responded that they have no information they can share with us yet but the company plans to proceed with their 2015 Shift plan.

 We have sent questions to our lawyers about the impact on our Pension Fund.  Like any other transaction like this (for example when they sold their factories to Furukawa) they absolutely MUST bargain with us over the effects on our members. They expect the merger to be completed in the first quarter of 2016 so we have some time to get that done.
