Negotiations Continue with VIS
CWA negotiators at Verizon Information Services met all week with the company in Philadelphia, and they reported that talks will continue next week in an attempt to reach a first contract settlement for 1,700 directory sales and support employees in the mid-Atlantic states.
In a memorandum of agreement announced Oct. 17, the bargaining teams agreed to put aside contentious issues and work to reach an agreement by Thanksgiving.
VIS agreed to extend terms of its performance plan for 60 days, which prevents any member from being terminated for poor performance while negotiations are underway for a new performance plan.
The parties also agreed to ask the NLRB to place on hold pending charges, and to attempt to resolve disputes including termination cases at the bargaining table.
