NABET Reaches Tentative Agreement at ABC

NABET-CWA and ABC Inc., have reached tentative agreement on new contracts covering workers in five bargaining units that previously rejected the company's December 1998 proposal.

The tentative agreement has the unanimous support of the NABET-CWA negotiating committee and will be put out for membership ratification, with results of the vote expected by July 16.

Units that will vote on the settlement are engineering technicians in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco; desk assistants, couriers and radio talent coordinators in New York; and newswriters in San Francisco.

If ratified, the new contracts would become part of the ABC-NABET master agreement and would expire on March 31, 2003. The seven other NABET units which earlier ratified their contract with ABC are Los Angeles and Chicago newswriters, New York and San Francisco traffic coordinators, New York publicists, Chicago telephone operators and Los Angeles plant maintenance and radio program coordinators.
