Mobilization Report

Finishing week 2 without a contract… the membership remains focused.

1298 focused on healthcare and gave their members the new AT&T healthcare plan, which contained an aspirin & a bandaid!

2252 held an informational picket at the Waldorf, MD location, which is a Government site.  They continue to perform work with the highest quality and safety.  In Oakton, members continue to stand and click hourly.

3207 reports that Augusta, Georgia Relay Services members have shoes on their dashboards with signs saying, "These Shoes are made for Walking!"  They have had actions like a "Unity Potluck"; a "strike night" party on 4/4 where they made picket signs; and recently a "CWA Health Care Day" in the Local office, where members wore band-aids over their left eyes in unity, wore buttons stating they want fair health care benefits, ate healthy snacks, and had a "walk for health" around the parking lot.  Most of the members wear red every day and black on Friday!  They are a small group, but they are staying positive and staying mobilized!

4340 shared a great flyer that they have distributed among all of the technicians.  It targets the people that drive every day, but includes the link to the CWA Occupational Health & Safety page that addresses issues for all workers inside and outside, across many industries that we represent.  They remind us that we should be continuing to stress quality and safety on the job every day with our members.

6350 members have continued to work to the rule that AT&T has established for the workers.  Management continues to try to pressure our members to work ahead in the event that a work stoppage occurs.  99% of the members in he TollFree Provisioning have continually declined the unlimited Overtime being offered.  This has frustrated the management in the center.  6350 members continue to "Clicket & Picket" every day at 10a.m., 2p.m., 4p.m., 6p.m., 10p.m., 2a.m., and 6a.m.  They have great participation, the membership enjoys it, and many managers leave their offices 5 minutes before the Clicking starts.  Wednesday's info picket at the Toll Building in St. Louis was a huge success.  It was well attended by retirees, JWJ brought other Unions including UAW, and our members took lunch at Noon to join the picket line.  6350 made the 5 & 6p.m. news, as well as the KSDK Channel 5 website.  The membership knows where the bargaining is at, and they are unsettled with the lack of progress, that AT&T has continued to drag on, even after the contract expiration date on April 4th.

7050 has remained focused on Safety at all locations.  They have increased membership numbers in every unit in both New Mexico & Arizona, and are close to 100% membership.  The newest members of 7050 understand that we are in the fight of our life, and our Unity and strength are what will help us get the fair contract we need and deserve.  (Welcome all new members!)

7250 passed out "cookies for a fair contract" in the call centers, and included a flyer on why we wear red/black, and why we stand and click hourly.  Black Friday mobilizers passed out examine gloves (& some condoms) that said "CWA Mobilization.  Your protection against Corporate Greed".  Customer flyers were distributed outside AT&T Mobility Authorized Dealer locations.

7750 continues unity walks every day.  The retirees continue to have informational pickets 2-3 times each week.

9415 officers attended a victory celebration where they were able to talk to many elected officials and labor leaders about our issues, and gained support.  Pleasanton has daily activities.  This week they refused to participate in the Company's March of Dimes Drive; instead, CWA is collecting the donations and members are contacting the charity on their own.  In Sacramento both the CNSC and LNS have been doing a lot of Mobilization Activities, having fun while keeping the pressure on the Company.  CWA provided black balloons in both locations; they are still up today, keeping the mood dispirited toward a Company that still refuses to bargain with the Union.  9415 continues to do coordinated activities with 9421 daily.

13500 wears RED every day with the option for black on Fridays.  All this week, EVERY hour on the hour, members made noise: clapping hands, clickers, shakers, noise makers, etc.  "No balloon Thursday" (management normally gives balloons for every sale so they can get a quick visual of how sales are going).  This week the balloons were refused, which forced management to manually track sales.

13550 continued inside actions.  They also attended the PPG (one of AT&T's biggest customers in PA) shareholder meeting.  They were able to pass out some flyers before being escorted out by the police; in addition they spoke with one of the PPG heads about our struggle with the Company.

If you experience changes in working conditions or any other Unfair Labor Practice, make sure to get specifics to bbates@cwa-union.org.  He is working with CWA Legal to keep track of the ULPs committed during bargaining.

Remember to have people sign the e-petition to AT&T by accessing www.standupforworkers.com so we can send a strong message to AT&T that corporate greed is not tolerated in the United States.

For all attending the AT&T Shareholder meeting next week: even though it's on Friday, remember to wear RED!
