Mobilization Report
10 days after expiration … still going strong!
1051 held an info picket from 10am-1pm in Fairhaven MA Monday. While the building is known as the "AT&T Building", it houses several other businesses. The one-time 1000 worker AT&T call center has diminished down to 75 members due to mass layoffs. Approximately 70% participated in the picket. The community was supportive; so were the local police, sending cruisers past every 30 minutes. The Sergeant asked if AT&T was aware of the picket. 1051's response was, "If they didn't know, they sure do now!" AT&T handed 1051 an additional mobilization opportunity with Legacy T manager Andy Laskowitz being on site this week. The members ramped up their activities. There is nearly 100% participation in wearing red, standing for a fair contract and shaking pill bottles several times each day.
2252 continues to visit AT&T customers and deliver early warning letters.
3603 created a leaflet of "The new AT&T Health Plan" showing Tiger Woods at the Masters with his AT&T sponsor on his golf bag, implying that is where the money went that AT&T should have invested in our health care.
District 3 Administrative Assistant Booker Lester, and a number of other CWA members and supporters, were able to distribute some flyers outside of the recent Masters Golf Tournament before being "escorted" from the site.
6143 field techs have been coordinating lunches. The outgoing mail message is "Hi, This is __________ with AT&T. I am currently on my Union-negotiated lunch break; please call back at 12:45." Their managers are not able to reach them; this creates CHAOS one message at a time. 6143 challenges all Locals to do the same.
6450 created a great video for www.standupforworkers.com. You can view it on Youtube by clicking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWDUJSTWL_o. They are continuing to stand and clap for five minutes every hour. They are wearing red every day and black on Fridays. AT&T Mobility stores continue to be leafleted. 6450 capitalized on a VP visit to Lee's Summit and turned the April 15th visit into a healthcare day, wearing bandages, standing and shaking pill bottles hourly, and displayed signs at their desks stating, "You think attendance is bad now, wait till we have no healthcare". To keep our fight in the news, 6450 continues to do phone interviews with news stations.
7250 reports that hourly standing & clicking has been increased to every 30 minutes in many work areas. Tuesday NLRB charges were filed due to over 50 documented attempts by managers to stop our concerted activities. The District manager told Union leaders that Minneapolis is the ONLY area around the country making noise. What??? Not according to reports from the Locals!
7750 continues morning hall walks, now with chants and the no Mickey Mouse signs. All members have posted "Fair Contract NOW" signs. Daily at 10 AM, Noon and 6PM, members stand, say "AHHH... NO to AT&T health care cost shifting", tap tongue depressors or shake, rattle and roll whatever they have to bring attention to AT&T and their takeaways at the bargaining table. The retirees were joined by actives for a Monday informational picket.
9415 reports that the CNSC Sacramento office had health care day Friday, where members had crutches, band-aids, etc. on at work. The office remains filled with black balloons (one for each chair). Every Thursday workers continue to stand at 10AM & 2PM & wave their "I am ready to strike" signs. They joined 9421 for Practice Picket. An informational "Just Practicing" picket was held Thursday in Pleasanton as well. Security asked them to move because they were on private property. Security left and the police arrived. Everyone then marched to the driveway and finished their chants and went back.
