Mobilization Report
20 long weeks after expiration, CWA C&T reached a tentative agreement with AT&T (Legacy T).
Thanks to all of the hard work each of you did on mobilization in your area, our bargaining team was able to reach a tentative agreement with AT&T. CWA members did a fantastic job of showing unity and solidarity.
Our members' actions both inside and outside of work made the difference at the bargaining table during this round of negotiations.
The tentative agreement does not become official until the members ratify it. Each member in good standing will have the opportunity to vote on the terms of the agreement.
Agreements have not been reached in all areas of the country; this tentative agreement only covers the Legacy T employees.
Our sisters & brothers at at&t East (former SNET – CWA District 1), at&t Southeast (former BellSouth – CWA District 3) and at&t Southwest (former SBC – CWA District 6) still do not have agreements.
We need to continue to mobilize in solidarity with those CWA members at at&t that are still working without a contract. Keep up the outside pressure by continuing to visit at&t authorized agents, and other stores like Apple, Best Buy and Wal-Mart.
The C&T battle may be over, but CWA's war against at&t wages on. We must continue to educate the public & customers about at&t's corporate greed, off-shoring of American jobs, and the at&tack on the Middle Class. Summer festivals, City/County/State Fairs, ball games & any other public event are the perfect opportunity to make sure all people are aware that at&t remains profitable, even in today's economy; and they should support America by keeping good middle class jobs in the United States.
Here are some actions that took place this week:
3106 is keeping up with mobilization, standing up every hour for 5 minutes, wearing red on Tuesdays & Thursdays and black on Wednesdays & Fridays.
3250 planned informational pickets/rallies at Atlanta Century Center and Alpharetta North Point Parkway on August 27, which were cancelled due to weather. They are all wearing red on Thursday and black on Friday. They continue to click twice a day.
3310 mobilizes against at&t by wearing red on Thursdays & black on Fridays. Their members STAND behind the bargaining teams in the work place for two minutes everyday at 11:00 & 2:00. They are working to the rule, and many members have been refusing to volunteer for overtime. They have mini picket signs at their work stations & have posted signs, "Were not on Strike, Yet" flyers at work locations.
3519 handed out flyers at all work centers and central offices on the Mississippi Gulf Coast this week. They also handed out 100 red "CWA UNITED" wrist bands at their membership meeting for their members to wear on the job.
6150 is wearing red on Thursday and black on Friday to show member unity and support for the bargaining team. They make sure that their members are updated on bargaining.
6151 reminds members that, because of their mobilization efforts, we WILL receive a fair & equitable contract (and we did!). They remind everyone daily that bargaining updates are available on line. They have handbilled; they have tapped and stood. They proudly wear their red on Thursdays (and give hell to those who don't). They wear black on Fridays. They have emailed Randall Stephenson, asking him to simply recognize and respect our efforts to grow the business by encouraging his bargaining team to present us with a contract that reflects our loyalty and dedication to the company. They continue to stand in solidarity.
6151 (last week's report) keeps visiting at&t authorized dealers and big name stores that sell at&t products and services so they can keep customers informed on issues. Stewards & officers reminded members that, as long as we are at the bargaining table, we are making progress. Bargaining updates are dropped at members' desks so they can stay up-to-date on progress being made, and they continue to have one-on-ones with the members about the information on the web. They show solidarity inside by wearing red on Thursdays & black on Fridays.
6350 continues internal mobilization by wearing red on Thursdays and black on Fridays. They continue boycotting overtime and clicking throughout the day. They have a letter-writing campaign to Randall in full swing. Multiple flyers have been distributed for the agent and retail stores. Stewards' training was held last Saturday to assist in turning up the heat. The members of Local 6350 want to thank the bargaining committee for all their hard work. We're behind you 100%.
6377 members continue to work to the rule. They provided members the link to participate in AT&T CEO Stephenson's e-mail campaign. They continue to wear their CWA buttons daily, red shirts on Thursday, and black shirts on Friday.
7250 wears black on Fridays and red on Thursdays (many wear it Monday-Wednesday also). New and seasoned members were joined at Thursday's lunchtime informational picket by CWA supporters including the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation. The Minnesota State Fair started Thursday: CWA members, along with AFA/CWA, are distributing information over the next 10 days about at&t's greed to thousands of people that enter the AFL-CIO building. They will continue to educate the public until at&t settles all of their contracts with CWA.
7750 continues daily Mobilization breaks in the morning. Every Wednesday at noon they have their informational picket outside of the District's office. (They encourage all horn honking of passing vehicles). Notice of the retirees' letter explaining their health care benefit options was shared in the weekly desk drops.
13500 wears red on Thursdays and black on Fridays, and wants to send a special thanks again to those wearing red every day. They have distributed flyers regarding the upcoming Labor Day parade, encouraging members to attend and/or participate in support of their Union.
13550 stands hourly; clicking and making noise. They are wearing red on Thursdays and black on Fridays to show unity. They encourage all members to go to the link/website to send CEO Randall Stephenson a letter regarding bargaining and a fair contract, and have added the link to contact Randall Stephenson to their Facebook page, Twitter account, and website/recording.
Stay Mobilized. Our Sisters and Brothers are counting on our support.
