Michigan Man CWA's "Strongest"
Brian Amundsen, a member of CWA Local 4032 and a communications technician for SBC in Dowagiac, Mich., certainly has a claim to the title of CWA's Strongest Man.
Amundsen took first place in two events and won overall in the Virginia Strongest Man, which guaranteed him a place at the national competition in St. Louis this year. Events in the national contest included the "Yoke and Flip," where participants carry a 700 pound yoke across their backs for 50 feet, then flip a 600 pound tire for an additional 50 feet, and lifting a 500 pound weight from the ground overhead for as many repetitions possible in a 60 second period.
Weighing in at 275 pounds, Amundsen placed 15th overall in the nationals, the North American Strong Man Championships. Another CWAer, Brian Allen of the West Virginia State Troopers/CWA, finished 18th.
