Lucent Mobilization Event - August 22, 2006
Below is a mobilization report from Brian Reilly, President of CWA Local 1062:
Members of CWA Locals 1058, 1060, 1061, 1062, and 1090 handbilled Lucent's corporate headquarters in Murray Hill, New Jersey on August 22, 2007. Lucent has deliberately misled the Unions and their shareholders with regard to retiree healthcare; failing to disclose $100 million dollars of savings it will receive from its drug and medical vendors. To add insult to injury, Lucent refuses to allow CWA to partake in any dialogue about the merger with Alcatel. We took our concerns to Headquarters and we know they got the message as we passed out handbills expressing our concerns directly to Pat Russo and Frank D'Amelio.
We will not go away. These issues are paramount to our members and retirees. We would like to thank everyone who participated. In addition, we would like to extend an invitation to all CWA members and retirees to the Special Lucent Shareholder meeting to be held September 7, in Wilmington, Delaware.
