Frontier Workers Raise Key Issues at Shareholders Meeting

Attached is a press release issued after almost 50 CWA members rallied at the Frontier Shareholders meeting on May 12 in Stamford, CT. In addition to rallying and leafleting outside the meeting, members raised questions to CEO Maggie Wilderotter. VP Ralph Maly unrolled a petition which stated that we have NO CONFIDENCE in the Board of Directors of Frontier. It was signed by CWA Local leaders from 26 different Locals representing Arizona, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, Indiana, Idaho, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Ohio, Washington, Nebraska and Minnesota. Jimmy Gurganus spoke at the meeting about a shareholders proposal from the AFL-CIO.

There was a good showing from Local 1170, which is still in a tough contract fight with Frontier. Members from Local 1298, which mainly represents AT&T workers in Connecticut, came to support their Union brothers and sisters, as did Dist. 1 VP Chris Shelton. Ron Collins, VP from District 2, was there and members from Locals 2001, 2003, 2009, 2010 and 2276 drove 10 hours each way from West Virginia to join the action.

In work sites all over the country, members wore stickers protesting the CEO's 77% raise.

This action was part of a two year campaign supported by the Strategic Industry Fund to build unity at Frontier in support of collective bargaining.
