Contact: Candice Johnson, CWA Communications, 202-434-1168, cjohnson@cwa-union.org
Washington, D.C. -- CWA President Larry Cohen is in Columbus, Ohio, today, working the phones and going door to door to build support for the November vote on SB 5, the legislation that would end collective bargaining for public workers.
Cohen is the first international union president to join the campaign efforts. Activists are reminding voters to vote no on Referendum 2, which is the anti-collective bargaining measure. Supporters collected a record 1.3 million signatures to get the measure on the November ballot.
Cohen will knock on doors with CWA District 4 Vice President Seth Rosen, Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga and members of We Are Ohio, the coalition of unions and progressive organizations fighting the attack on workers’ bargaining rights. He will join CWA activists in phone banking later today. CWA represents about 6,000 public workers in Ohio.
