CWA Members Approve Lucent Agreement
Members of the Communications Workers of America have ratified a new five-year agreement with Lucent Technologies.
The national agreement was ratified by 71 percent of voting members. The seven local agreements also were ratified.
The contract covers some 25,000 CWA members. It provides for an 18.7 percent wage increase compounded over the contract term, plus bonuses. It also includes a pension increase of 20 percent over the contract term.
CWA Vice President Jim Irvine reported that the settlement includes a key CWA bargaining goal which opens new jobs within Lucent Technologies to union representation through an expedited election process.
