Cingular's "Blue" Network Technicians in Connecticut Go CWA

The first group of former AT&T Wireless Network Technicians at Cingular organized with CWA on August 24, following the certification of their cards by the American Arbitration Association. The 11 technicians included in the bargaining unit work throughout Connecticut. These workers join with 2,100 other ex AT&T Wireless workers who have organized at Cingular since March.

CWA Local 1298, which helped gain representation for 90 other Cingular Wireless "Blue" workers on Aug. 23, (retail sales associates at 22 stores in Massachusetts), will represent the wireless employees. Mark Hollman, a member of the CWA Local 1298 at Cingular, assisted the workers in their effort to get a union along with Local Organizer Cindy Vines.

Since the first group of former AT&T Wireless workers organized at Cingular Wireless this spring (324 customer service representatives in Jackson, Miss., on March 22), another 1,805 customer service and retail sales employees in eight states (working at two call centers and nearly 800 stores) have gained CWA representation.
