To:       All AT&T Legacy T Locals and Members

As we posted on the C&T website earlier a change in the CE III KT Test has occurred.  The Company put out notification on

April 30, 2007.  Unfortunately because of a system glitch not all employees received the notification.  AT&T has asked for our assistance in posting this information so that all employees have the information.

Below you will find the Company’s notification letter regarding the new test.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

In Unity,

Date:  May 1, 2007

Audience:  All Legacy AT&T Occupational Employees

Subject:  Customer Engineer III Knowledge Test II (CEIIIKT II)

Supervisors:  Please ensure employees without e-mail and/or Intranet access receive this information.

Effective May 1, 2007, the Customer Engineer III Knowledge Test II (CEIIIKT II) will replace the Customer Engineer III Knowledge Test (CEIIIKT) as a basic requirement for obtaining test qualified status for the Customer Engineer III (CEIII), Customer Engineer (CE) Band 1 and Customer Engineer III - Journeyman jobs.  Candidates still are required to qualify on the Technical Specialist – Telephone Ability Battery (TS-TAB) Q2 to become test qualified for these jobs.

Implementation of the CEIIIKT II constitutes a change in the test standards required to be test qualified for the CEIII, CE Band 1 and CEIII - Journeyman jobs.  The CEIIIKT II is made up of four parts:  Hardware, Software, Networks, and Convergence, and assesses knowledge of new technology, including Convergence technology such as VoIP, not assessed by the CEIIIKT.

Because the new test assesses knowledge of new technology not assessed by the old test, these changes constitute a change in the test standards required to be test qualified for the CEIII, CE Band 1 and CEIII - Journeyman jobs.  As a result, candidates who have qualified on the CEIIIKT who have not been placed on the job will not be grandfathered on the CEIIIKT II.

Because test standards have changed, the test will be available for immediate retest for those who have taken the CEIIIKT and not been placed on the job.  Also, the retest intervals for all candidates will be reset, so that all candidates may retest at 6 months for the first and second retests, and at one year for retests after that.

Upon implementation of the CEIIIKT II on May 1, 2007, the following employees will be grandfathered automatically, within 30 days of the implementation date.

·          Employees who currently occupy a job for which the CEIIIKT II is required.

Also, candidates who satisfy either of the following criteria will be exempt and considered qualified on the CEIIIKT II.

·          Candidates who performed a job for which the test is a requirement for 6 mos. or longer within the past 5 yrs.

·          Candidates who hold a valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.

·          The CCNA Certification is good for 3 years, so grandfathering status is good as long as the certification is current.  It will be the responsibility of the employee to request grandfathering on or after renewal of the certification.

·          Employees who hold a valid CCNA certification must call the ATS Service Center (800-662-6629) to request grandfathering.  At that point, you will be expected to fax a copy of the valid certification to the ATS Service Center.
