Calling the Chamber Out!
Today, on the fifth anniversary of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, hundreds of activists gathered outside of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness about the corrupting influence of big money in our politics.
Citizens United opened the floodgates to corporate cash and allowed the Chamber to become the biggest secret spender of recent record-shattering 2014 elections. The Chamber wants to drown us out, advancing policies and candidates that threaten our jobs, our democracy and our environment.
But we're making some noise!
This wasn't just some one-time event. This is a movement of 5 million citizens -- all of whom have signed a petition in support of a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and related cases. We're taking a stand. We want money out and voters in.
