Check out these websites to learn more about sweatshops and child labor and what you can do to stop them.
  • AFL-CIO’s Union Label & Service Trades Department

  • At www.unionlabel.org, you’ll find lists of union products and a boycott list of companies that treat workers unfairly.

  • UNITE: Learn about anti-sweatshop campaigns at www.uniteunion.org, the website of the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees.

  • United Students Against Sweatshops: Learn about college campus campaigns against sweatshops at www.usasnet.org.

  • National Labor Committee: The committee, www.nlcnet.org, works with local, national and global groups to promote workers’ rights.

  • Sweatshop Watch: More information on global campaigns to stop sweatshop labor is at www.sweatshopwatch.org.

  • Rugmark: A global organization, Rugmark, www.rugmark.org, is working to end child labor and help children in India, Nepal, and Pakistan go to school. It has a labeling program to help people buy carpets that aren’t made with child labor.

  • Smithsonian Museum of American History: Take a virtual tour of an exhibit on the history of American sweatshops at www.americanhistory.si.edu/sweatshops.

  • Kids Can Free The Children: Started by a 12-year-old boy in Canada who wanted to stop child slavery, Free the Children, www.freethechildren.com, has grown to 100,000 youth members in 35 countries working to free children from poverty, exploitation and abuse.
