Avaya Bargaining Report #2
Today the Company presented its first economic proposal to CWA. All proposals presented were retrogressive in their entirety. For example: Avaya management actually passed a demand that all members be laid off without pay for two weeks.
The Company also wants to reduce the current amount of termination pay to a maximum of $42,500.
On benefits for retirees, the Union was presented with a monthly premium of over $350 per month, plus increase in out-of-pocket maximum for Single and Family. Active employees would be expected to pay not only monthly premiums, but 15% of hospital stays in addition to other health care concessions.
Increase in Prescriptions, both for generic and brand name drugs, with an increase in annual out-of-pocket maximum.
Avaya's proposals are an insult to our members. The Bargaining Committee hopes that our members in the Call Centers feel better tomorrow.
