AT&T "Legacy T" Bargaining Report #22
Last night we met with the Company until almost 2:30 in the morning. No progress was made. In fact, their demands worsened! The Company now wants to completely eliminate our JOG language (which guarantees a job offer before they can lay a member off), our Card Check language and our Successorship language (to protect our Contract if they sell part or all of the company). After all their nice words to the press about how much they care about their "Union partners," these proposals prove that's just garbage. Eliminating Card Check and Successorship means they want to go Union-free. They also rejected our proposal to increase our protections under Article 30 (Contracting Out).
We spent a lot of time discussing their proposal for Intersubsidiary Movement – their "transfer plan to nowhere". The Union submitted a very comprehensive proposal on March 13th to make it easier for our members to transfer from one AT&T contract to another. After all this time, they completely rejected our proposal. Theirs is confusing and difficult to manage, and provides NO OVERSIGHT so we can see who was placed and whether or not a member is bypassed. It also further jeopardizes our pensions when we move from one company to another.
They continued to attempt to worsen our absence language and press for double-time only after 10 hours of overtime (instead of 8). They rejected every proposal we presented, based on the demands of our members, in various articles. They also passed Articles 45 and 46 which we will respond to today.
We rejected their Medical Proposal and we presented our latest one, which again concentrates on preventative care.
We will bargain again at Noon today. Be prepared. Basically the same thing is going on at every table.
