123 Cingular "Blue" Retail Sales Employees Go CWA at 27 Stores in Massachusetts and Oklahoma
On August 23, 123 former AT&T Wireless ("Blue") retail sales employees at Cingular gained CWA representation at 27 retail stores in Massachusetts and Oklahoma.
In Massachusetts, a majority of Cingular's "Blue" 90 retail sales workers at 22 stores in the state signed cards supporting representation with CWA Local 1298. Assisted by Local 1298 organizer Cindy Vines, Local 1298 members from Cingular and SBC played a key role in reaching out to the workers. They included Mark Hollman and David Houlihan from Cingular, and Paula Samolik and Glenn McCloud from SBC.
In Oklahoma, Locals 6009 and 6012 joined forces to assist union representation efforts by the 33 Cingular Blue retail employees working at five locations in the state. Assisting were Local 6012 Organizer Jon Kirby, along with local union officers David Ratcliff (6012), Jerry Butler (6009), and Susan Stahl (6009).
