Companies that send U.S. call center jobs overseas would suffer financial consequences and risk their customers' loyalty under the provisions of a bipartisan bill introduced this week in the House of Representatives.

The Communications Workers of America is strongly backing new, bi-partisan legislation introduced in the House of Representatives today that would ban federal grants and loans to corporations who move U.S. call center jobs overseas. CWA represents 700,000 workers in telecommunications and other sectors; more than 150,000 are customer service professionals.

Embracing the April 4 movement proposed by CWA just a few weeks earlier, hundreds of thousands of people across the country made their voices heard Monday in their workplaces, their communities and outside businesses and government buildings in the intensifying national fight for workers' rights and economic justice.

Georgia Congressman John Lewis, who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1960s, joined CWA's third virtual town hall meeting Tuesday night, building excitement for the nationwide events on Monday, April 4, and the ongoing battle for workers' rights.
